Confirmation seminar presented by Sumedha Koul

Cemented paste backfill (CPB) is a widely used backfilling technique around the world, with a conventional mix design consisting of cementitious material, sand, and water. Various studies in the literature suggest using different waste materials in CPBs to promote sustainability and reduce costs. The present study focuses on using Waste Powdered Glass (WGP), a sustainable waste product, as a sand replacement. Of particular interest is the understanding of the effect of sand replacement on the strength parameters and rheology of CPB. This study further aims to develop a mathematical model that adequately represents the flow of CPB and verify the presented model experimentally and numerically.

About Confirmation Seminars

The purpose of the confirmation milestone is to ensure that the candidate receives appropriate feedback in relation to the viability and progress of the thesis project and that the resources required to complete the program of research within the recommended timeframe are available. It is also an opportunity to ensure that the candidate has demonstrated the capacity and capability to successfully complete the thesis in a timely manner.
