The occurrence of hailstorm events across Australia are highly variable because the parameters that describe the hailstorm environments are very sensitive to geographical location, complex terrain features and localized influences. Limited research is done on hailstorm intensity for Australia and the parameters that define them. The aim of this project is to identify the most suitable covariates to model hailstorm frequency and severity across Australia for different climatic regions and seasons. The developed model will be then applied to the projected climate data to study the changing trends of hailstorm characteristics in warming climate.
