Confirmation seminar presented by Elysia Andrews

Barrier islands provide crucial protection to coastal communities worldwide, however, with increasing sea levels, and changing wave and storm climates, the risk of barrier island breaching is becoming increasingly imminent. Limited work has been conducted in Australia on barrier islands despite the large portions of the coastline, particularly in South East Queensland, where the coastline is protected by large barrier island systems such as Fraser, Stradbroke, Moreton and Bribie Islands. This study aims to assess breaching processes and subsequent coastal erosion risks, through physical modelling, numerical modelling, and field measurements, using Bribie Island and the Sunshine Coast as a study site.
