Confirmation seminar presented by Ulrike Pelz

The seemingly simple application of spray-applied waterproofing membranes in tunnel construction has made this waterproofing approach a widely considered alternative to the classically used sheet membranes for tunnel linings. However, there are many misperceptions about the performance of these materials in the market and there is a lack of clear guidance on the application limitations. Consequently, there is a need for the impacting factors to be identified and evaluated, objective information on the complexity to be presented, the understanding of any crucial material parameters to be enhanced, and to clearly define the boundaries of this approach. This can lead to more informed material choices and in consequence facilitate certainty as well as time and cost-effectiveness of the chosen waterproofing method.
