Finding solutions to re-grow the Great Barrier Reef and ensure its long-term survival.
Cyclones in a changing climate
Exploring how climate change may influence tropical cyclones and other extreme weather events.
Waves
Understanding and monitoring ocean waves and their interactions with natural and man-made systems.
Water quality
Monitoring water quality in remote and developing regions impacted by industrial activities.
Contaminant transport
Solving sediment, salt, and contaminant transport problems in natural water systems.
Physical modelling
Developing large and laboratory-scale physical models of complex natural systems to better understand, monitor and observe these systems.
Optimising renewables
Maximising the output of tidal and wind turbines through studies of optimal siting and operation.
Bioreactors
Utilising fermentation and composting reactors to extract bio-fuels and bio-commodities from solid organic waste.
Biodegradable packaging
Reducing waste through the development of biodegradable packaging.
Regenerating ecosystems
Developing new approaches to re-introduce water into dry environments and regenerate ecosystems in the Murray-Darling Basin.
Critical element recovery
Tailored solutions for extracting critical elements from and treatment of mine-impacted water.
