Researcher biography

Em. Professor Lockington primarily researches topics in the area of water transport in coastal soils and aquifers, including water exchange with plants and atmosphere. However, he has also conducted research on moisture transport in building materials and the design of sustainable tourism destinations. Em. Prof. Lockington has undertaken a number leadership roles across his career, including Program Leader for the Sustainable Tourism CRC (1 and 2), Head of the Environmental Engineering Division (School of Engineering, UQ), and Research Management Committee member and Research Program Leader for the ARC SRI ‘National Centre for Groundwater Research and Training”. He has also been frequently called upon to act as the Head of the School of Civil Engineering at UQ (particularly during 2010-2019). Dr. Lockington has also held editorial roles on two major journals in the area of hydrology and water resources research (Water Resources Research; Advances in Water Resources). He is a Fellow of the Institute for Mathematics and its Applications.
