Investigating the use of Machine Learning Techniques for Analysing the Surf Zone
27 November 2020 1:00pm
This thesis will be concerned with the following:
- The development of wave pocket tracking software for assessing surf amenity, estimation of bathymetry, numerical model validation and estimation of longshore sediment transport.
- Investigating machine learning methods to extract information from camera data of the swash zone. For both areas of research, the application of computer vision and machine learning techniques will be explored, particularly the use of deep learning through convolutional neural networks in data extraction processes.
