Project Title: Identify economically efficient ways to manage wind born dust from reclamation
The Port of Brisbane currently has large areas of relatively flat, unvegetated sandy areas with the reclamation area. These areas can transport large quantities of sand during high wind events, particularly if surface soil moisture content is low. If this sand is transported over reclamation area border this material will represent a loss from the reclamation area as well as being is a nuisance issue for tenants bordering the reclamation area. This project requires students to research techniques and options available to manage wind born dust from a large sand area, including both physical and chemical treatments, and trial recommended options.
