Confirmation seminar presented by Edison Vargas Davila

Aging sewer systems face increasing challenges from groundwater infiltration and exfiltration, impacting both infrastructure performance and water quality. This research integrates laboratory testing, field monitoring, and advanced numerical modelling to better understand these underground interactions. By linking groundwater and sewer behaviour through a coupled digital framework, the study aims to predict leakage dynamics, improve maintenance planning, and support the creation of digital twins for smarter, more resilient urban water management.

About Confirmation Seminars

The purpose of the confirmation milestone is to ensure that the candidate receives appropriate feedback in relation to the viability and progress of the thesis project and that the resources required to complete the program of research within the recommended timeframe are available. It is also an opportunity to ensure that the candidate has demonstrated the capacity and capability to successfully complete the thesis in a timely manner.
